You can achieve high-quality treatment results with care from our periodontists at Periodontic & Implantology Associates.
Periodontal maintenance cleanings are essential to long term health. These treatments include thorough cleanings both above and below the gum line, removing plaque, tartar (hardened plaque, also called dental calculus), and bacteria to prevent the condition from worsening. Periodontal maintenance is generally recommended every 3-4 months. When biofilm is not removed, the periodontal bacteria begin to flourish within three to twelve weeks. By providing a cleaning at twelve weeks (three months), we are able to remove these bacteria and keep the condition under control. Maintenance cleanings are alternated with your general dentist’s office so you are still under the care of your general dentist as well as your periodontist.
