Ensuring our patients feel comfortable and at ease during their visits is prioritized by our periodontists and team. To alleviate any anxiety our patients may feel, we provide both oral sedation and IV (intravenous) sedation for a comfortable experience. You will need a family member, friend, or someone who can drive you both to and from your appointment.

Oral sedation is a form of conscious sedation we may recommend to ensure you have a comfortable experience each time you visit our office. Administered in pill form, oral sedation is simple and easy to use. Because oral sedation is a form of conscious sedation, you will remain awake during the treatment, but you will feel more relaxed and at ease. There are many benefits to sedation dentistry, including:

  • With oral sedation, you simply need to take a pill. It is quick and easy to use.
  • It produces the necessary amnesic effect for a comfortable experience.
  • Oral sedation typically costs less than other forms of sedation.
  • IV sedation requires that you do not eat or drink 8 hours prior to surgery (except for water). The level of sedation is generally deeper than with oral sedation.

The type of sedation will be determined at the time of your consultation.
For more information about the benefits of sedation and how we can make your visit more comfortable, please call our office today.
